Bronx Pride 2022
From The Bronx recently released a Bronx Pride T-Shirt! And it's 🔥🔥🔥. But you already knew that. ;)
I wanted to take a moment to talk about why we released a Pride tee. First and foremost, we did not release a Pride tee because every other company in America released one. I'm insulted you even thought that. From The Bronx has never done anything because other people were doing it! In fact, we started a company celebrating The Bronx because NO ONE WAS DOING IT!
*Cough* Sorry, I got away from myself.
Back to our design and thought process. A few years ago we released the Bronx Pride Pin and our customers loved it. We were planning a t-shirt at the time, but couldn't figure out a cost effective process to print that many colors in a vibrant and attractive way. Fast forward a bit (past COVID and the website relaunch) and here we are. Older and smarter with access to a new printing process that is both affordable AND attractive! TA DA!
So after all of that, we were amped to put out the tee. And WE DID. *Applause*

When the shirt finally released 98% of the response was positive. 2% not so much. And while we’re usually pretty good at ignoring the 2%, something about the comments irked me. They were just hateful. We responded to some, reported others, let our audience loose on them. But one really stuck out to me.
Someone asked "What does Bronx pride have to do with gay pride?" A question I found so surprising that I’m dedicating a blog to it.
To understand what "Bronx pride had to do with PRIDE”, let's first start with the history of the LGBTQIA+ flag and then explain our thinking behind the design.
The LGBTQIA+ Flag was originally created by Gilbert Baker in 1978. Each of the 6 colors has a meaning:
- Red = Life
- Orange = Healing
- Yellow = Sunshine
- Green = Nature
- Blue = Harmony
- Purple = Spirit
More recently, the colors black, brown, white, light blue and pink have been added.
- Black/Brown = People of Color
- White/Light Blue/Plink = Trans Community
All of the colors together represent PRIDE and celebrate IDENTITY.
From The Bronx is firmly rooted in The Bronx - its history, its culture and most importantly its people. Our people, our community is as diverse as the world is diverse. Pride in one's identity, pride in one's borough. IT’S ALL CONNECTED.
That’s what Bronx Pride has to do with PRIDE and that’s why we made a Bronx Pride T-Shirt. And the shirt's a big hit! With everyone but that one guy on Instagram and the 2% that liked his comment.
FROM THE BRONX TO THE WORLD!!
