We Won an Emmy: "The Immigrant City" Takes Home New York Emmy Gold

WE WON AN EMMY.

On Saturday, October 10, at the 69th Annual New York Emmy Awards gala at the Marriott Marquis, "The Immigrant City" took home the award for Human Interest, Short Form Content. That makes From The Bronx and The Bronx Beer Hall co-owners Anthony and Paul Ramirez Emmy-winning hosts, a sentence neither of us ever expected to write.

And it didn't stop there. The series itself, "From Times Square to the World," brought home a total of three Emmys for the incredible team at New York City Tourism + Conventions and PROM Creative.

Created as part of Founded By NYC to celebrate New York City's 400th anniversary, the series tells the stories of the cultural movements, food, art, and immigrant communities that make this city what it is. In our episode, we rode the subway (and a ferry) from Native heritage in Lower Manhattan to a grandmother-run kitchen on Staten Island, a tea meditation in Chinatown, and Arthur Avenue, aka Bronx Little Italy, wrapping up at The Bronx Beer Hall.

Two brothers from The Bronx got to help tell the story of how generations of immigrants built New York. Our own family is part of that story. The Bronx has always been an immigrant city inside an immigrant city, and carrying that to the Emmy stage is the honor of a lifetime.

This caps a year that also included a Webby Award nomination for the same campaign. Not bad for a couple of kids from the Boogie Down.

Thank you to everyone at NYC Tourism + Conventions, to the PROM Creative crew who shot, cut, and carried this project, and to every person who opened their kitchen, shop, or neighborhood to us on camera. We're honored to have carried the story, and honored to carry The Bronx with us wherever it goes next.
