From The Bronx’s Anthony Ramirez II Hosts Friends of Pelham Bay Park’s Spring Fundraiser

On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, Anthony Ramirez II, co-founder of From The Bronx, had the honor of hosting the Friends of Pelham Bay Park's Spring Fundraiser: Past, Present & Future—a celebration of community, conservation, and the ongoing efforts to preserve New York City’s largest park.

The event recognized the dedication of three incredible honorees:

• Liam Kavanagh, former Deputy Commissioner of NYC Department of Parks & Recreation
• Angelo Rubbo, Founding Board Member of Pelham Community Rowing & Pelham Bay Water Club
• Barbara Dolensek, a passionate community leader, writer, and advocate and Vice President of the City Island Nautical Museum 

The evening also highlighted the artistic talents of William Murray, winner of the Friends of Pelham Bay Park Photo Contest, and added a touch of unexpected fun when Anthony’s mother, Jeanette Ramirez, won a raffle prize—which, he assured everyone, was pure luck!

Special thanks go out to Nilka Martell, Maria Luisa Cipriano, Marianne Anderson, and the Friends of Pelham Bay Park team for organizing a fantastic event and allowing Anthony to keep the energy high—all of his bad jokes included.

Supporting NYC’s Largest Park
Since 1992, Friends of Pelham Bay Park has worked alongside NYC Parks to protect and enhance the park’s natural beauty and recreational spaces. The organization engages volunteers for environmental conservation efforts, including tree planting, invasive species removal, and trail maintenance. They also raise funds for programs like the Sensory Garden for children with special needs.
